AT THE AIRPORT & ON THE AIRCRAFT
Checking in: Checking in on time will help you get you where you want to go. By checking in we mean going to the WestJet counter and having your name entered into our computer system. Here are some helpful hints to assure on time departure for you and your plane: Transport Canada regulations state a guest must have the following forms of identification or you will be denied boarding: 1 piece of government issued photo ID. Alternately, we will accept other forms of personal identification, including non-photo ID. ID is not required for children under the age of 16, however, it is recommended. Please contact our Sales Super Centre at 1-888-EASTJET or 1-800-538-5698 for further information on what types of identification are accepted.
Please check-in one hour prior to your flight, as several things may delay your arrival at the departure gate (e.g airport construction, security screening delays, assisting any travelling companions with special needs, etc.)
If you are traveling with young children, infants or persons requiring special assistance we recommend you check-in up to 90 minutes prior to departure.
If you are planning on checking in early, or wish to find out if you need to check-in earlier than an hour at a particular airport, please contact the Sales Super Centre at 1-888-EASTJET or 1-800-538-5698 for information on that airport's counter hours and any construction/delays.
WestJet reserves the right to deny boarding to guests arriving less than 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Checking-in on time or early will also help avoid delays in your luggage arrival.
If you are travelling without checked luggage, try our Touch n'Go self check-in terminals, available at select WestJet destinations.
Boarding and seating: All seat assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis at the time of check-in.
Pre-boarding is provided for guests travelling with small children, Unaccompanied Minors, and for guests requiring some extra assistance.
INFLIGHT SERVICES: WestJet does not provide a full meal service. Complimentary coffee, juice, soft drinks and a variety of light snacks (cookies, pretzels) are included in your fare. Beverage service is available, liqueurs are , and beer, wine and spirits are . Guests are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages onboard, but please imbibe only from our fine selection of alcoholic beverages from our fantastic In-Flight Team.

MORE INFORMATION ON CHECKED LUGGAGE
Always remove old luggage-claim tags and make sure each piece of luggage is clearly marked with your name, address, and phone number (including your work address and phone number is also a good idea). You should put a copy of this information inside your luggage as well.
When you check your bags make sure you get the correct number of luggage-claim stubs and that each one is marked with the correct city name of your destination on your luggage tags.
Keep all loose handles, hooks, and straps closed securely inside if you can, or remove them. These can catch on conveyors and belt loaders and cause damage to your luggage or other guests' luggage.
Always lock your luggage.
Make a list of items you have packed and their estimated value. Keep your list in a safe place until you return. Report any missing, delayed or damaged items before you leave the airport. This will help us start our tracing endeavors right away.
If you are travelling to one of our coastal stations and are planning to bring back some fish or seafood, please contact our Sales Super Centre directly for packaging information.
CAMERA FILM IN LUGGAGE: WestJet recommends guests pack all camera film in carry-on luggage, as new screening machines for checked luggage may affect film. Film below ISO 800 won't be harmed by carry-on screening machines, however, you do have the right to request a hand inspection.
Sporting Equipment:
When properly packaged, we allow most kinds of sporting equipment at no additional charge and in addition to your checked luggage allowance. This includes:
Golf clubs - clubs, balls, and shoes in a suitable golf bag.
Bowling balls - including bag and shoes.
Fishing rod - including tackle box. The rod must be encased in a hard shell cylindrical container.
Bow and quiver - must be packed in a suitable, secure bag or container and must be transported as checked luggage.
Skateboards and non-motorized scooters.
Skis (water or snow) - One set of skis, boots and poles are considered one item, snowboards are considered one item, water skis and boogie boards are both considered one item.
Hockey bags (including a stick) are accepted at no charge and are included in your checked luggage allowance.
Bikes are subject to a fee (plus tax) each bike each way. Bicycles are to be crated in a bicycle carton or bag, with the tires partially deflated to prevent damage, and the pedals removed. Handlebars are to be turned at a right angle from the front wheel so the handlebars, wheel, and frame are all aligned.
Some sporting equipment such as bicycles, surfboards, and kayaks are subject to an additional fee. Please contact our Sales Super Centre for details. As well, there may be an additional charge if you are transporting more than one of the above listed items (for example, if you're travelling with 2 snowboards, there may be a charge for the second snowboard).
Musical Instruments:
We accept musical instruments (both electrical and non-electrical) for carriage as checked luggage.
The instrument may be subject to excess size, weight, or luggage charges.
Small musical instruments may be permitted as part of a guest's carry on luggage, even though the item may not fit into the sizing device due to the irregular shape. This is determined at the time of check in and may be accepted, space permitting. The instrument will be stowed in the overhead compartment or under the seat. We do not permit seats to be purchased for musical instruments.
Electrical devices:
Cellular telephones cannot be used at any time while in flight. All cellular telephones must be in the off position.
Devices that are permitted onboard after advising a WestJet Flight Attendant are: voice recorders, calculators, laptop computers, hand held CD players, hand-held electronic devices, computer games, and photographic equipment. Please note, if you are travelling with electrical/ electronic items as part of your carry on luggage, you will be expected to demonstrate that the device is operational at security. If you do not have a power source for your electronic item, please ensure you pack your electronic item as checked luggage. Any lap top computers or electrical items will need to be removed from their carrying case at the security gate and will be x-rayed. Cables for securing laptops which are not accompanying a carry-on laptop or computer must go in checked luggage only.
Interline Transfer of Luggage:
WestJet does not participate in any interline agreements with other airlines. If you are using WestJet as part of your flight plans and another airline to continue or complete your journey, you will need to collect your luggage and check it in for your connecting flight.

TRAVELING WITH YOUR PET
Pet Embargo 2003/2004: We do not want to jeopardize the safety of your animal during the busy months of December and January. The transportation of animals in checked luggage in not permitted between December 18, 2003 and January 5, 2004.
WestJet charges a service fee of (plus tax) each way for kennels, either in checked or carry-on luggage. Please contact WestJet's Super Sales Centre directly at 1-888-EASTJET or 1-800-538-5698 to add your pet to your travel plans, and for all other information on pets travelling in the cabin (including kennel sizes).
In checked luggage: The following animals will be accepted for carriage in cargo when in a proper kennel: cat, dog, bird, chinchilla, guinea pig, hedgehog, and rabbit.
Bring your pet in a comfortable (large enough to allow the animal to fully stand and turn around) and leak-proof kennel. Your animal and kennel together must weigh no more than 45 kgs (100 lbs.).
We do not allow wire mesh or plastic grill kennels. We also do not allow more than two animals of the same species per kennel in checked luggage. For safety reasons, please remove any wheels from the kennel before checking your pet.
It is a good idea to label the kennel with your pet's name, as it will assist us in comforting your pet. As well, secure the kennel with some variation of plastic twist tie, but please do not lock the gate.
On board: One small companion pet (cat, dog, rabbit, or bird) can travel in the guest cabin, stowed under the seat in front of you.
Service animals Please see the section under Special Needs Guests for information on service animals.
Pet Travel Tips: Preparing your pet prior to arriving at the airport will make for a more enjoyable trip!
Feed your pet only a light meal a few hours prior to departure. Provide a quick drink of water before boarding.
Exercise your pet before leaving for the airport. Some airports may require the animal remain in the kennel at all times.
Leaving your pet at home - Check with a veterinarian before deciding to travel with a female animal in heat (estrus) or with females with suckling young and unweaned animals. You may also want to consult with your veterinarian if you are planning to take an animal less than eight weeks old, due to the possibility of dehydration during the flight.
Medicating your pet - We do not recommend using tranquilizers and other medications. Keep in mind that if your pet is tranquilized, we will need a letter from your veterinarian upon check-in, stating that the animal is acceptable for travel.

SPECIAL NEEDS GUESTS
Travelling while pregnant: A woman in any stage of pregnancy is welcome to fly with us.
Women past 32 weeks must consult a physician and obtain a written confirmation stating they are acceptable for travel and to ensure that the seat belt will not cause injury to the unborn child.
Guests with allergies: WestJet does its best to accommodate guests with special requests. However, because our aircraft are public environments, we cannot guarantee an environment free from pet or food allergens brought onboard with other guests. We do not serve peanuts as snacks, however, we may occasionally have other snacks with nuts as part of their ingredients (e.g. cashews, brazil nuts).
Medications on board: Guests should take medication onboard with them. WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants are not permitted to administer or give out any type of medication. Guests who may require medication during flight and are unable to administer it themselves will be required to travel with an attendant.
Guests who require syringes for medical circumstances and will be transporting these items in their carry-on luggage are recommended to also bring the medication which needs to be administered by a syringe. The medication needs to be in a container with the name of the medication and the name of either the pharmacy which dispensed the medication, or the manufacturer of the medication.
Visually impaired Guests: Visually impaired guests are welcome on flights with or without a service animal. Visually impaired guests will be pre-boarded.
Service animals will be carried in the cabin of the aircraft, free of charge, when properly harnessed. The animal will be required to travel at the guest's feet and wear a harness at all times.
WestJet will accept the following as evidence that the animal is a service animal: Registered Certificate, Identification card and/or other written documentation from the professional training institute (faxed or mailed letters from the institute are also accepted).
Oxygen apparatus on board: WestJet will permit a maximum of two (2) oxygen apparatus per guest aboard the aircraft. A maximum of two guests requiring oxygen are permitted per flight.
Guests travelling with oxygen must have a doctor's certificate stating they are acceptable for travel. WestJet also recommends that you bring any other documents related to type of cylinder you are bringing (e.g. flow rate, P.S.I., capacity, duration etc.).
Only gaseous oxygen is permitted. WestJet will not accept liquid oxygen. Oxygen may not be checked as luggage under any circumstances. WestJet will not supply oxygen; guests must make their own arrangements to obtain oxygen.
Oxygen cylinders may not exceed 40.6 cm (16 in) in length and 7 Kilograms (15 lbs) in weight. WestJet will accept 'D' or 'M-6' size oxygen cylinders only. The flow rate must not exceed 4 L/min.
Oxygen generators are accepted for personal medical use on board. They must be oxidizing, gaseous and less than five (5) kg (11 lbs) in weight.
If you are travelling with a battery-operated regulator for your oxygen cylinder, please bring extra batteries with you to ensure that your regulator for the oxygen flow is operable.
Guests with wheelchairs: WestJet will transport guests who are confined to a wheelchair or require wheelchair assistance upon arrival at the airport. Please contact WestJet's Sales Super Centre in Calgary at (403) 250-5839 or toll free at 1-888-WESTJET or at 1-800-538-5696 to make a reservation and for further details on travelling with a wheelchair.
Each guest is permitted to bring, in addition to the free luggage allowance and at no extra charge, one (1) wheelchair to be carried in the cargo compartment of the aircraft. Braces, crutches, and other assisting devices will be accepted free of charge.
When you get to the airport, WestJet will help you prepare your wheelchair for transport. Here are some suggestions to ensure a smooth process:
WestJet suggests guests with wheelchairs notify us at least 48 hours prior to departure, and check in 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. This allows us the time to prepare guests in wheelchairs for their flight.
If you have documentation on how to assemble or disassemble your wheelchair, please bring it with you. Alternately, if a friend or family member is taking you to the airport and they are familiar with how to take apart or assemble your wheelchair, please inform the check-in agent at the airport.
We will accept wheelchairs that carry wet cell (lead acid) batteries. The battery must be encased, protected against short circuits, secured upright with absorbent material and labeled properly at the airport. We also accept gel-cell batteries if disconnected from the power source.
